Open Meeting to evaluate Proposals from Fellows.
In our recent discussions a number of ideas were put forward under several headings including but not limited to Education, Sustainability/Climate Change, Local Community Development and Design.
Bring your ideas and let’s see how we can turn them into fruitful RSA projects that bring significant benefits to civil society.
It was agreed that Fellows should develop proposals for review at this upcoming meeting. A one-page proposal as a minimum should state the following:
- Purpose or objective
- Outcome and benefits expected
- How it fits within the mission of RSA
- Resources needed, including process, key steps and timing
Here are three examples of ideas in the pipeline:
Bronxville NY: The objective is to form a Village Green Committee that creates greater awareness in the community the environment. A hoped-for outcome is to save energy and money through improved building insulation and thus save the planet. We are currently investigating how to engage local high school and college students.
Energy in Common, a green energy and microfinance project headed up by Hugh Whalan which has recently been awarded a catalyst grant.
New York City: An annual prize might be created to encourage design professionals to develop proposals for improving the quality of life in the city. RSA might sponsor the prize with the Mayor of New York and a major corporation at an annual award ceremony to raise the money and provide higher visibility for RSA.
October meeting is being planned on Entrepreneurship.
