Please welcome Fynn Glover, who has just relocated back to Chattanooga,TN, from a stint in London. Fynn writes:

I graduated from the University of Richmond in 3.5 years with degrees in International Studies and French, as well as a minor in Environmental Studies. The majority of my senior year research was directed toward a concerning dearth of attention paid to sustainable food solutions within urban planning and international policy. That research has spurred a fascination with sustainability, community problem solving, and social entrepreneurship. Other research areas included francophone studies and french literature. While at Richmond, I was a four-year starting central midfielder and two-year captain for the University of Richmond’s varsity soccer team. Division I soccer is a 40-hour commitment each week, and its lessons in leadership, teamwork, discipline, and time management have been invaluable to my own personal development. I am still playing soccer for Chattanooga Football Club, which has been one of the most enjoyable athletic experiences of my life.

Upon completion of my degree in December 2009, I moved to London, UK, where I became a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. I was connected to the RSA after having worked as a Field Organizer and Leadhere Fellow for Createhere throughout the Chattanooga Stand Campaign. Completed in the summer of 2009, Stand became the world’s largest community visioning survey. Over 26,000 people participated in the campaign- each one answering four questions about their hopes for Chattanooga’s future. Needless to say it was an incredibly formative experience.

I am currently working to expand a Seattle-based company called InternMatch to the Chattanooga area. With the goal of generating a robust young workforce, we provide an efficient online platform, through which students and businesses can connect via the internship process. I am also a volunteer researcher for the Benwood Foundation’s Gaining Ground program, which seeks to advance Chattanooga’s local food system. And for fun, I am an intermediate hang glider pilot and avid yogi.
