We welcome Emma Stanton who has just transferred to Boston and the New England Fellowship.
Emma is a British Psychiatrist with a passion for health care policy. She is spending a year in Boston as a Harkness Fellow, researching variation and value in mental health care. After completing her MBA in 2009, Emma set up a social enterprise called ‘Diagnosis’, see www.diagnosisltd.co.uk. She became a Fellow of the RSA in 2009, enjoying the opportunity to meet with and learn from non-healthcare inspiring Fellows and speakers about social enterprise, leadership and a sense of community. Earlier this year, Emma based herself in the RSA library at John Adam Street to complete her second book, MBA for Medics (Radcliffe).
Welcome Emma with a comment here.

Dear Emma,
How fortunate we have you here albeit for only a year. We look
forward to meeting you. Perhaps you would be able to attend
our “Coffee House” in Providence on September 30, 2010 (4-6)
If you are interested in sharing your work with other Fellows
at some point, we can do a “Coffee House” on your work. They
are informal and aim for discussion among Fellows who come
from different disciplines.
Let me know if you would like RSA connections now.
Best, Arthur Mark Chair, RSA-US Fellos New England
Arthur – Unfortunately I am back in the UK for a few days at the end of September – please let me know further dates when the “Coffee House” is meeting. I would be delighted to join and share my work with Fellows for discussion. Best, Emma
Hi Emma,
I just had a conversation with Lynn Broadbent. I am currently an MBA student at Iona College with a Healthcare concentration. My goal is to be an executive healthcare leader in management. I am in the process of being approved as a volunteer at NY Prebyterian Hospital in White Plains, NY and will start about March 28th. The department I will be working with is Risk Management/Quality Assurance using Six Sigma and Lean practices. Patient and employee safety, quality of care, and cost containment will be of paramount importance due to new legislation. Medicare and Medicaid compensation will be tied to quality measures. Lynn thought it would be mutually beneficial if we were to connect and discuss. I would possible be interested in attending your Boston meeting as well. Please contact me at my e-mail address: gisselle.aguirre@gmail.com. Thanks and take care, Gisselle
