“One’s destination is never a place, but rather a new way of looking at things” Henry Miller

If you have you been following the Fellowship Council forums, you will have seen International Council Member Dave Clarke’s discussion on the International Fellowship. What do you want to add to that discussion on the role of the RSA in the United States? Does the RSA’s mission statement travel well or does it lose something in translation as it crosses the Atlantic? What are the untapped opportunities here? How do we deal with the geographical challenges?

Consider this thought for the day:
California – about 165,000 square miles
Great Britain – about 90,000 square miles”

I am a member of RSA Wales, and the current RSA Wales working group. I think – no, more strongly, I believe! – that international fellowship is the clue to the future. I spent some time this year in the USA with the very fine folk of RSA-USA. And did some projects. I’d love to do more work of this kind, bridging oceans, bridging between us all. All things are possible, I feel, working together. PS: geographic challenges are largely gone, in our new global, technological world. Again, all things are possible. Onward!

Graeme – yes, the digital age has removed many barriers; but there is no substitute for the energy and synergy generated by getting good people together face to face to talk about good ideas. A combination of face to face and online engagement seems to be the ideal way forward for our global network, at least for now.

So tell us what’s developing in Wales!

Hi Lynn. I agree wholeheartedly! We can now choose to explore a wide variety of “interactions”: face-to-face, online, mobile, and more! A very exciting period indeed, and lots of opportunities to add to that excitement. In Wales, a great deal of interest in the future and in creativity. Some sense now, post the recent UK elections, of what might come next. A slight sense of “what might happen?” around the UK generally. Finance conditions a topic on many lips. Time now for some big visions and big ideas, I feel!
