Susan Fainstein is professor at Harvard’s Graduate School of Design. Widely regarded as a leading figure in the field of urban planning, Fainstein’s teaching and research have focused on the politics and economics of redevelopment in cities, tourism, comparative urban and social policy, and issues of gender and planning. Among her books are Urban Political Movements, Restructuring the City, and The City Builders: Property, Politics, and Planning in London and New York.
In 2004 she received the Distinguished Educator Award from the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning, in recognition of excellence in scholarship, teaching, and service.
The lecture is co-sponsored by the Jammal Endowment Fund. Attendance is open to the public and free of charge. No reservations are needed.
