I would so much have liked to attend the meeting but will be teaching that evening. However, I continue to research on how issues of sustainability and environmental concerns in the past can continue to be of interest to us today.

Hello all. As a newly arrived brit in New York I look forward to meeting fellow 'Fellows' tomorrow. I have recently taken up the post of HR Director at UNICEF and so my interest areas are global issues affecting children and women. Having originally qualified in geology and hydrology, I am also interested in the impact of climate change on global ecomonics. Also any hints or tips on living in New York also welcome! Christine

Wow! This is a great response and augurs well for our local RSA-NY community. We are looking for ways to encourage each FRSA 'to do their thing'....whatever that may be and at the same time create local networks of interest that may transcend geography.

For example, sustainability and climate change is one of my personal areas of interest and I am discovering others outside the NY area interested in the same subject.

Dr. Cecily Selby has led by example in promoting science education. Conflict resolution and the role of women may be another 'acorn' for RSA to nurture ...and so on.

The key is the passion and leadership of one or two fellows to raise awareness, organize an event and attract others to your cause, including prospective new fellows. This becomes the positive loop that network technology enables and the RSA seeks to create.

Looking forward to meeting you all on Wednesday.

Looking forward to meeting everyone and learning more about RSA and Fellowships. I have recently started a new online journal, The Mantle, www.mantlethought.org. Aside reviews, we publish cultural and political essays and will be publishing our first roundtable this month (it's on the UN's responsibility to protect, will be great!).
Thanks and see you soon!
