There are many opportunities in Europe for young architects to participate in competitions and get their names out there. One of the difficulties of being a young architect in America is that there are too few opportunities to break into the field and show one’s work.
Here at University of Buffalo, students are working on “small projects” to redesign much-used public spaces, both to enliven the surroundings and to give students real training. Read more about it here in the Chronicle of Higher Education at http://chronicle.com/blogs/architecture/2818/buffalo-architecture-students-take-on-small-projects-for-real-world-training
I’d like to hear from others on ways to help young architects get experience and exposure. What about an RSA student design competition here in the US?
