I am seeking a volunteer who is knowledgeable on ferns to help me inspect a collection of tropical ferns up state New York. The collection was made 150 years ago by the wife of the painter Frederic Church during their 1865 visit to Jamaica. The collection has been undisturbed all these years and it’s possible there are species no longer growing in Jamaica. As the Jamaican Ambassador to the US, my ultimate aim is to restore the “Fern Gully” to its former glory.

My mother is a botanist who specializes in alpines, but who knows a lot about ferns. She belongs to the Fern Society, and lives in Westchester County, New York. I will ask her if she can help you.
