Entrepreneurship and Why Some Good Ideas Fail

By Lynn

“It’s typically the Brits who invent the idea and the Americans who make money from it!”  This quote came from a discussion on the Northeast UK Virtual Coffee House posted after a recent RSA Encounter meeting.  What skills does an entrepreneur need to be successful?  What else makes the difference between success and failure?  Are the conditions different in the UK from those in the US?

To read the whole discussion, visit http://virtual-coffee-house.ning.com/forum/topics/newcastle-encounter-20-may-09.  Virtual Coffee House requires a quick sign in, but it’s well worth checking in from time to time to see what Fellows are talking about.

So often, the British inventions, subsequently developed by the US require rather more financial investment than is available from UK sources.
Having CEO experience for the European operations of a US corpn and then transferring to the US as CEO for the same US company I feel there are also other factors such as the business environment in the US and general attitudes about risk
